Hi! I'm Emme, the owner and board-certified music therapist at Chromatic Creative Arts Therapy! I am a white, Queer, Disabled, and Neurodivergent person who loves to read, do crossword puzzles, and cook.
My Background: I've been a board-certified music therapist since 2021. I received a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Therapy with a minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Appalachian State University in North Carolina, completed a 1,200-hr clinical internship at a community creative arts therapy practice in New Hampshire, and have been working in Wisconsin since June 2021. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work with a focus in Youth Trauma and Substance Abuse Counseling at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee t to deepen and strengthen my ability to support young people and their families using music, creative arts, and more traditional counseling methods.
My Values: I founded Chromatic Creative Arts Therapy in March 2023 to provide community-based music therapy services to support the developmental and mental health of Disabled, Neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ young people using a trauma-informed, radically-affirming, and family-centered approach to wellness. My professional values are guided by the principles of anti-racism, feminism, Queer and Crip theories, and other anti-oppressive practices. I believe in the power of creativity and play for people of every age, providing a supportive environment for self-exploration, collaboration at every step of the therapeutic process, and supporting my clients' power to lead, advocate, and self-determine.
Specializations: I specialize in working with Disabled, Neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and trauma-impacted young people and am passionate about ending the youth mental health crisis, helping LGBTQIA+ kids grow into LGBTQIA+ adults, and bridging the gap in mental health care for Autistic, Intellectually Disabled, Non-Speaking people. I have a basic working proficiency in American Sign Language and conversational Spanish skills.
